The Vancouver Canucks have had an amazing season to this point, in fact, many believe they're going to be a Stanley Cup contender, as they should be at this point with what they've shown the rest of the National Hockey League. However, there's been a major question mark surround one of their franchise cornerstones in Elias Pettersson and if he'll re-sign.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, a Pettersson extension is close and it's a max term contract, which is all the Canucks could hope for really. Take a look.
Pettersson, 25, has skated in 61 games for the Canucks this season, putting up a total of 75 points including 29 goals and 46 assists.
The deal is believed to be 8 years and will be announced on the coming days as the deal isn't done yet, but is in the final stages. As such, the AAV is not yet known.
