Yesterday when the Edmonton Oilers played the Toronto Maple Leafs there was a very noticeable altercation on the bench between forwards Evander Kane and Leon Draisaitl as the team was losing. Now it appears that altercation has caused some lineup changes.
According to Bob Stauffer, the Oilers colour commentator on the radio, head coach Kris Knoblauch has announced Kane is a scratch tonight; take a look.
Evander Kane will not play today (maintenance day according to Kris Knoblauch).
Calvin Pickard starts
Kane, 32, has put up pretty consistent numbers with that of his career this year, in 67 games he has scored 21 goals and added 18 assists for a total of 39 points.
Both players are notorious for being fiery competitors, but the outward display of anger between the two players no doubt had a part to play in Kane being scratched. You sure aren't scratching your second best player.
We'll see if this goes any further than the one scratch the Oilers are calling a maintenance day. One thing is clear, Edmonton has a problem in the locker room, too many players don't see eye-to-eye.
