A fan favourite enforcer on the ice is taking his talents into elsewhere as he signs a contract for his first professional fight off the ice.

Daniel Amesbury affectionately known as Diamond Hands' is one of the most prominent enforcers in hockey. you may remember him as the player who was suspended indefinitely in the FPHL last season, only to sign with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL among other places. Amesbury is not known for anything other than his antics on the ice, but it appears that he'll take his talents off the ice later this summer.

According to Amesbury himself, he will fight in the Creator Fight League on July 12th. The Creator Fight League is an Amateur Boxing Promotion where his opponent will be Zach Baker.

Amesbury, 33, had 138 penalty minutes in 24 games across 3 different leagues last season, collecting just 2 goals during that stretch.

This will be Amesbury's first fight in a boxing ring and not on skates. He's 6-foot 1-inch tall and weighs 220 pounds.

Even though Amesbury is switching sports for this event, I wouldn't count him out. Anyone who has seen him play hockey knows that he is as tough as they come and he can dish it out as much as he can take a punch. After all, you don't get the nickname Diamond Hands' for nothing.
