Throughout the past a few years, the National Hockey League has seen a few games need to be cancelled or rescheduled due to weather impacting teams, travel plans, but I don't think we've ever seen something like this before. Especially because it might have an impact on the Stanley Cup Final.
According to George Richards, a Florida Panthers writer and editor for NHL.com and Florida Hockey Now, the Panthers are having difficulty getting out of South Florida due to the ongoing monsoon hitting the area. He notes That the team is expected to arrive in Edmonton later tonight, but with the weather being way that it is, the flight itself has been delayed.
It doesn't seem like the Florida Panthers are going to be taking off for Edmonton anytime soon even though they should get there at some point before the game time tomorrow. It sounds like most players stay at the teams facilities for the time being that they're also having trouble making their way out due to flooding.
It could be possible that we see a postponement of the game if this weather continues, especially, if the Panthers can't takeoff shortly. This isn't just a regular season game. We are in the middle of the Stanley Cup final and I doubt the NHL would want to make it seem that they're favouring one team over the other. Should the Florida Panthers not have adequate rest.
