Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi were free agent acquisitions by the Toronto Maple Leafs last summer. Both players signed one-year prove it type deals and could be free agents this summer. However, it is known that the Maple Leafs would like to retain one or both if possible. According to Pierre Lebrun of TSN, the Maple Leafs are looking to sign both Bertuzzi and Domi to long-term contracts in the 5-6 million dollar range and are actively in talks to do so; take a look.
Bertuzzi, 29, played in 80 games for the Leafs last season, scoring 21 goals and adding 22 assists for a total of 43 points.
Domi, also 29, skated in 80 games for the Leafs last season scoring just 9 goals and adding 38 assists for a total of 47 points.
I think both Domi and Bertuzzi had slow starts to the season last year, but came into their own down the stretch. While they were both an important part of a new look Leafs team, paying them each between 5-6 million annually is way over the top in my opinion.
