Every hockey fan and player knows that one element of the game that rarely gets talked about is gamesmanship. At times, players will do their best to sell a play to try and earn their teams a power play. There is a fine line between selling a call and completely embellishing.
While selling a call is a widely accepted practice, embellishing is considered to be an embarrassing act. Last night. Edmonton Oilers forward, Leon Draisaitl crossed the line from selling and completely embellished a play in one of the most embarrassing ways you will see all season.
As Draisaitl and Ryan Suter come around the back of the net, Suter's right arm comes up and clips Leon in the left ear. Draisaitl immediately reacts to the play. However, his hand goes nowhere near the point of contact grabbing the front of his face.
The referees blew the play dead as Draisaitl clutched his face on the ice but no penalty was called on the play which was certainly the right call. The Oilers went on to win the game and tied the series at two games. Game 5 goes tomorrow night in Dallas.
