After parts of ten seasons in the National Hockey League, former second round pick Chris Tierney is heading overseas for the next chapter in his professional career.
According to Match24.ru Belarusian club Dynamo Minsk, who play in the KHL, have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Chris Tierney for the 2024-25 season.
Tierney, 30, was selected 55th overall by the San Jose Sharks in 2012 and six years later, was part of the return to Ottawa in the Erik Karlsson trade. Throughout his time in the NHL, Tierney has made stops in San Jose, Ottawa, Florida, Montreal and most recently, New Jersey, who he spent the 2023-24 campaign with.
In 649 career games in the National Hockey League, the Keswick, Ontario native has 248 points (80 goals, 168 assists), 134 penalty minutes and is a minus-70. Tierney has also suited up for 40 Stanley Cup Playoff games, all with the San Jose Sharks.
Dynamo Minsk currently sits fourth in the Tarasov Division and sixth in the Western Conference with four wins and two losses through six games this season. Tierney has a few teammates that may be recognizable to fans here in North America including Xavier Ouellet, Josh Brook, Ilya Usov and Nicolas Meloche.
With a strong season in Minsk, Chris Tierney could set himself up for offers from NHL clubs next summer, with a potential return to North America in 2025-26, if he wishes.
