Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the best goaltenders in NHL history, and after announcing his retirement, he'll have one final run on the international stage.
On Sunday, two massive blockbuster moves were announced for Team Canada, as it was revealed that both Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon would take to the ice for their country at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
This gives an already talented young team a major boost of star power that they needed, with the likes of Macklin Celebrini, Mackenzie Weegar, Travis Sanheim and Ryan O'Reilly headlining what was one of the best rosters at the tournament already.
Now, the moves keep on coming, as it has been reported that Marc-Andre Fleury's career isn't done yet, as he'll represent Team Canada at the World Championship for the first time in his illustrious 20+ year career.
This reunited Fleury with Crosby for the first time since the two were part of not one, not two but three Stanley Cup runs together, with Fleury going on to play for Chicago, Vegas and Minnesota since leaving the Penguins.
After the announcement, Fleury himself confirms the news, as he looks to lead Team Canada to a gold medal in what could end up being the final time we ever see him on the ice.
After a stellar two decade long career in the NHL, many thought we'd seen the last of Flower on the ice in a professional setting, but now, he's aiming to join a young goaltending group that could use his wealth of experience, and whether or not we see him too much is yet to be confirmed, but all we do know is that he's preparing for what will be a huge, emotional tournament for the 40-year old.
