The National Hockey League and the Professional Women's Hockey League in Mississauga coming together under one roof in Mississauga one day? It could happen if a current mayoral candidate has his way if his bid for mayor comes to fruition.
Peter McCallion, the son of longtime former mayor Hazel McCallion, is vying for the top job in Mississauga and feels that its time for a team to come to Mississauga. But who could blame him? Mississauga is the third largest city in Ontario and, by all accounts, has an arena that could at least be home to a PWHL team in the interim. To be honest, McCallion may be a bit ambition in the sense that each time an Ontario Hockey League team resided at Paramount Fine Foods Centre, they were relocated for one reason or another, but with a proper business plan and a spot for a new arena, it could be feasible.
A stick tap to McCallion should be in order for the idea itself even if it seems ridiculous. Mississauga is a little big city with an awful lot of upside, and to be honest another activity for people to do certainly wouldn't hurt.
