The world of sports is a very tough one, and sometimes tempers explode, and that's exactly what happened in a recent SPHL game when a player went after a fan.
Despite being toned down in recent years, hockey remains one of the most dangerous and violent sports in the world, and with so much intensity on the ice, it's safe to say that players need to be tough to make it in that world. Fortunately for many players, they do make it big and get to the NHL or the AHL, but some fall short, and often that can lead to frustration.
While it can't be confirmed that was the reason for this recent incident in the SPHL in Fayetteville, the Marksmen's social media account has announced that Reggie Millette has been suspended indefinitely after he allegedly tried to go into the stands and go after a fan with his stick.
The Fayettville Marksmen have been made aware of the actions of forward Reggie Millette following this weekend's game in Macon.
The Marksmen do not condone these actions and remain committed to promoting fun, family-friendly entertainment through the sport of hockey, both at home and on the road.
Millette has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.
Fans also quickly called for the league to do something about it, and while it's only the team at this point that has announced a suspension, it's likely come in conjunction with the league.
At this time there is no footage of the incident readily available, but given how dangerous a player can be with their stick in hand, it's safe to say that the Marksmen made the right decision, as this type of incident can not be tolerated in any way whatsoever, especially when fans become involved.
