A third-party investigator concluded a women's hockey coach breached a code of conduct multiple times, receiving a short ban. They are coaching again in Toronto.

Time and time again, for years, it has appeared as if Hockey Canada has been unable to get out of its own way. Now, according to a new report, a third-party investigator has concluded that a teacher breached Hockey Canada's code of conduct multiple times, and the allegations presented are rather shocking.

According to reports, a women's hockey coach breached Hockey Canada's code of conduct multiple times but is still coaching. While this is concerning, it raises the question as to whether Hockey Canada is keeping sanctions of misconduct secret and if so, along with multiple other national sports organizations, why they are allowed to do so.

The allegations included are:

*Told his female players he would enter their dressing room so long as they all were wearing at least sport bras, even if that made some of them uncomfortable.
*Told players in early October 2022 that he wouldn't speak with their parents because they were «whiny f--king pricks.»
*Suggested to players that one of their teammates had left a practice early probably because she was going to engage in a sexual act with her boyfriend.
*Used an «Indian accent» when calling the name of a player of South Asian descent, commented that a player was «hot,» and described another player as being of low intelligence.
*Tried to «photobomb» a picture being taken of a player and her father by pulling down his pants and «showing his butt.»
*Regularly used profanity with and berated his 16- to 18-year-old players.

There is no place in sports for anyone to take advantage of players or participants, especially while in a position of power. Unfortunately, due to the lack of transparency many national and provincial sports have when it comes to the issues, there is absolutely no telling who is coaching these teams and at what length if they have offended, what they have done.

While it appears that in his case Hockey Canada did end up suspending this coach, the coach was allowed to return, after taking a respect in sport course. As of this time. He is now working with a new Toronto team that has supposedly no clue about the coach's previous history concerning discipline.

It should be noted that as pointed out many provincial sports organizations or national sports federations do not have a plan in place to effectively deal with situations such as these, many have taken it upon themselves to craft their own codes of conduct to help tackle this problem.
