The 2025 NHL Draft is one of the most intriguing in NHL history, as the top few prospects have great potential, but beyond that, there's plenty of risk involved for NHL General Managers.
The top names in the draft include Michael Misa, Roger McQueen, Matthew Schaefer, James Hagens and Porter Martone, with plenty of potential and upside for some other prospects within the draft.
One of those names to keep an eye on is Manitoba native Carter Bear, a 6-foot-0 centre that has spent the last three years playing for the Everett Silver Tips of the Western Hockey League.
Unfortunately, Cam Robinson has now reported that the talented centre has suffered a brutal lacerated achilles, meaning that he will miss the remainder of his draft year and then some.
In 56 games this season, Bear showed off his immense talent, posting 40 goals and 82 points for the first-place 43-12-4 Silver Tips, who now head into the playoffs without arguably their best player.
For the past few months, most have had Bear ranked in the low teens in their draft rankings, and if he finished off the year strong, there was even consideration that he'd be a top-10 pick.
Unfortunately though, this injury may end up hurting his draft stock, but with a solid three years that includes 139 points over the past two years, he's done a great job proving that he can potentially be a star at the next level, so for a team in the teens, he'll likely still be a very worthwhile selection.
