An unexpected group has been trying to block long-time Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk and his potential Hockey Hall of Fame inductions.

Pavel Datsyuk is one of the greatest Detroit Red Wings of all time. He was a prolific point producer and just an overall joy to watch play the game of hockey. As such, it's fitting that he's a 2024 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, however, there is a group trying to stop his entry into not only the Hockey Hall of Fame, but Canada in general.
According to Ballers.Hockey on Instagram, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress is trying to stop Datsyuk's entry into the Hockey Hall of Fame and into Canada for the induction ceremony in early November.

The UCC is arguing that because of Datsyuk's ties to Russia and the fact that he attended an even to honour their veterans in the conflict, he shouldn't have the honour of being inducted into the Hall of Fame or entry into Canada for the ceremony.
Datsyuk's playing career in the NHL spanned 14 years with the Red Wings. He played in 953 games and scored a total of 918 points including 314 goals and adding 604 assists.
Datsyuk has earned the right to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, but will politics stop his entry into Canada? We'll have to wait and see.
