The father of former NHLers Pavel and Valeri bure, Vladimir Bure, has passed away at the age of 73. Vladimir Bure won two Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils
He may be more familiar to fans in North America as the father of former NHLers Pavel and Valeri Bure. But, Vladimir Bure was a decorated athlete in his own right, including winning two Stanley Cups as a staff member with the New Jersey Devils. Vladimir Bure has passed away at the age of 73.
A report from Sport-Express.Ru in Russia says Vladimir Bure passed away Tuesday in Miami, where he has lived for the past several years. A cause of death has not been given, but the report reveals Vladimir had been dealing with health issues for a while.
"Vladimir Bure was hospitalized a few weeks ago due to a heart attack. He complained of severe pain in his heart. In 2020, Bure suffered a stroke."
Vladimir Bure is a four-time Olympic medalist, and a world champion swimmer. He won a bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics, as well as a silver and two bronze in 1972. He won two Stanley Cups with the New Jersey Devils (2000, 2003) as a physical trainer.
Vladimir's son Pavel Bure is a Hockey Hall of Famer with too many accolades to list from his illustrious hockey career. They include the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year in 1992, and two Maurice 'Rocket" Richard trophies as the NHL's leading goal scorer. Valeri Bure spent 10 seasons in the NHL, playing in the league's All-Star game in 2000. Our sincere condolences to the family of legend Vladimir Bure.
