Recently released statistic has Toronto Maple Leaf fans questioning Sheldon Keefe's decision making
As finger pointing begins after the Toronto Maple Leafs loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in game five, and the thoughts of roster management is a hot button topic as to whether it's the reason the hockey team continues to struggle, the eye test shows that a number of players are more of a detriment than a help while on the ice.
One of those players who are a cause for concern is Justin Holl. The 6'3 defenceman who fans have grown to hate during his tenure as a Maple Leaf has reportedly been on the ice for 72.7% (13 of 18) of the Maple Leafs goals against this postseason. In an instance where Sheldon Keefe continues to play guys that he's familiar with or comfortable with, something has to give. To allow a guy to keep playing as he makes mistake after mistake, and misses assignments in my opinion is a blatant disregard to accomplish the goal, and that's to win hockey games.
Whether the Leafs can remove Holl and insert the likes of Liljegren or Gustafsson is yet to be seen or determined, but one thing is for certain, something has to give if the Maple Leafs want to win a series for the first time since the 2003-2004 season.
