Chicago Blackhawks trade Max Domi to Western Conference team

It looks like a deal including Max Domi appears imminent. NHL Insider Frank Seravalli reports that there have been ongoing discussions between the Blackhawks and the Dallas Stars. It is likely that Blackhawks receive a draft pick as compensation. Seravalli also reports that Dallas is trying to include sending goalie Anton Khudobin to Chicago.

Khudobin is currently playing for the Texas Stas in the American Hockey League. Getting rid of Khudobin's contract would help create some much needed cap space for Dallas and give them the space they need in order to acquire Domi. Khudobin is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year and he makes $3.3 million per season. Chicago has the room and ability to take on the remaining contract with no trouble at all. Perhaps look for an AHL goalie to be swapped for Khudobin to fill the void for the Texas Stars.

If the Domi deal goes through, it would be the second trade in less than a week for the Dallas Stars. Last week they acquired former Canadiens forward Evgeni Dadonov. Dallas is clearly trying to stock up on veteran forwards that they believe will help them in the playoffs this spring. In sixty games this season for Chicago Domi has a respectable eighteen goals and thirty one assists.
