The Edmonton Oilers have made a trade, acquiring the rights to 2021 third-round draft pick Jayden Grubbe from the New York Rangers in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round selection.

Any CHL-drafted player who was drafted two years ago has until June 1st to sign an entry-level deal or have their rights relinquished. The Rangers and Grubbe didn't get a contract signed so New York moved him along to acquire an asset back.

The 20 year old forward scored 18 goals and 67 points in 64 games with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. The 6'3 center was the Rebels captain for the last three seasons.

Selected 65th overall by the Rangers but did not sign an entry-level contract with the club.
