Washington Capitals trade Joel Edmundson
It takes a certain type of player to truly embody what is considered playoff hockey. Joel Edmundson is exactly that type of player. The big smooth skating defender has a physical edge to his game and knows how to get under the opposing team's skin.
Edmundson was a big part of the Montreal Canadiens team that went to the Stanley Cup final. He's the type of player that takes a piece of flesh at every opportunity and leaves opposing teams thinking twice about going to the net. Edmundson was acquired by the Washington Capitals on July 1st in a trade from Montreal.
The defender is on the move again, once again being traded this time to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

This move certainly makes the Leafs tougher to play against and more responsible defensively. Edmundson is in the final year of his current contract and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. In the 44 games this season he has one goal and five assists.
