Lundestrom suffered the Achilles injury during his offseason training this summer and has already undergone surgery. With the current six month timeline, Lundstrom could return to the Ducks lineup in early-Feburary.
The 23-year-old appeared in 61 games for the Ducks last season, putting up 14 points (four goals, ten assists), two penalty minutes and was a minus-13.
Lundestrom's injury now opens up a spot down the middle for the Anaheim Ducks and that could be given to 2023 second overall pick Leo Carlsson, depending on how things go during training camp and in pre-season games. There's no doubt Carlsson will make the team out of camp and play nine NHL games, before the Ducks make a decision on where he'll play the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
