On Friday, the 32 Thoughts podcast returned with a new co-host, Kyle Bukauskas, and as always, Elliotte Friedman shared the latest news from around the National Hockey League, with some interesting updates coming out of Southern California.
Friedman shared that the Anaheim Ducks and John Gibson have been working together to try and find a new home and that the netminder is willing to expand his trade list.
Gibson, 31, is set to enter his 11th season with the Anaheim Ducks. In 46 games last season, the Pittsburgh native had a record of 13-27-2 with a 3.54 goals against average and an .888 save percentage. He has three years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $6.4 million per season.
Another name on the Anaheim Ducks that could be moved this season is defenceman Cam Fowler. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Ducks are open to finding Cam Fowler a new place to play at some point this season.
In 81 games last season, Fowler registered 39 points (five goals, 34 assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a minus-36. The Windsor, Ontario native has two years left on his current contract with a cap hit of $6.5 million.
If the Ducks are able to move on from both John Gibson and Cam Fowler, it would open up quite a bit of salary for them to work with next summer on the free agent market. At some point soon, the Ducks need to turn things around after missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs six seasons in a row.
