Lukas Reichel is a talented young player in Chicago, but unfortunately, he recently missed a Blackhawks meeting for an incredibly relatable reason.
The Chicago Blackhawks have had another terrible season, but in the positives, they've found some important pieces that may stick around and be crucial to the long-term success of this franchise.
One of those pieces is Lukas Reichel, who may have found himself on the wrong end of the Blackhawks coaching staff in recent times, as a story was shared about why he was late to a key team meeting.
Reportedly, Reichel told Head Coach Anders Sorenson that he simply forgot to plug in his phone to charge overnight, so when he was waiting for his alarm, nothing came, and eventually, he was late to the meeting, resulting in him being a healthy scratch.
«It sucked but it's not going to happen again. I've never been late to a meeting one time, I just wasn't smart enough.»
While it may be hilarious to look back on, it certainly wouldn't have been like that for Reichel, who had to promise Sorenson that it wouldn't happen again and that it was simply a one time mistake that he overlooked.
The 22-year old winger is having a career year in 2024/25, playing in 66 games for Chicago while tallying 7 goals and 21 points in that time, and while he's still a long way off from reaching his potential, he's now got 165 games of crucial NHL experience under his belt.
Ultimately, this is definitely a learning experience for a young forward, and after being a healthy scratch as a result, it's something that he'll likely never overlook again as he looks to continue growing to become an integral part of this team moving forward.
