One name at the top of the list of the Chicago Blackhawks for their next head coach has withdrawn his name from consideration, throwing a wrench into their plans.
A massive wrench has been thrown into the reported plans of the Chicago Blackhawks, who were said to be targeting University of Denver head coach David Carle for
their next bench boss.
Per a newly released report from analyst Elliotte Friedman, Carle has informed the Blackhawks he's not interested in coming to the Windy City and has withdrawn his name from consideration in their coaching search.
Earlier this month, NHL analyst Frank Seravalli indicated that Carle was the top name on Chicago's new coach search list.
The Hawks have had about 5 months to put their list together and there's 1 name at the very top that's been circled and separated himself from the rest of the pack and that's David Carle from Denver University.
Seravalli went over the success that Carle has enjoyed at the young age of 35 and noted that while he was Chicago's top choice, they would be in fierce competition with other clubs for his services.
Look, this is a guy that's had incredible success at both the college and international state. 2X NCAA national champion, back-to-back World Junior gold medals at the age of 35. The Alaska native is the it guy in this coaching cycle for the National Hockey League. And here's the thing - the Hawks are going to want to get after him, but they're not going to be alone.
The Blackhawks fired coach Luke Richardson after a dismal start to the year and replaced him on an interim basis with Anders Sorenson, who had been head coach of the AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs.
The 1st Swedish head coach in NHL history, Sorensen went 17-30-9 as the Blackhawks once again missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He's also reportedly being considered as the new full-time coach of Chicago by GM Kyle Davidson.
