Which offseason departures will impact the Dallas Stars most in 2025-26?

The Dallas Stars are entering the 2025-26 season with much of their core intact, but the summer wasn't without significant turnover.

General manager Jim Nill chose stability in most areas, yet several roster pieces from last year's Western Conference Final run are gone.

The question now: which losses could hurt the Stars most in their quest for the Stanley Cup?

According to NHL.com, Dallas lost Cody Ceci, Mikael Granlund, Mason Marchment, Evgenii Dadonov, Magnus Hellberg, Matt Dumba, and Matej Blumel during the offseason.

Granlund was a late-season rental who made an immediate impact.

In 31 regular-season games with Dallas, he recorded 21 points, then added 10 points in 18 playoff contests.

Replacing his offensive creativity in the middle six will likely fall to young talents like Mavrik Bourque or veterans shifting roles.

Beyond Granlund, the physical presence of Marchment and Dumba will be missed.

Marchment's net-front grit and ability to wear down opponents were key in the playoffs, while Dumba's right-shot presence on defense added depth and versatility.

Ceci and Dadonov also played steady, if unspectacular, roles that contributed to the team's balance.

I believe the Stars' ability to absorb these losses will depend on internal growth. If Bourque, Nils Lundkvist, and other emerging players seize the opportunity, Dallas may not miss a beat.

If not, those missing names could be felt when it matters most in April and May.
