The Edmonton Oilers are all of a sudden in some injury troubles, as their two biggest stars will miss up to a week of action leading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Thursday was an absolute nightmare for the Edmonton Oilers, as
Leon Draisaitl missed their clash with the Winnipeg Jets, with both
Connor McDavid and
Stuart Skinner subsequently leaving the game with injuries as well.
Now, the latest update from Head Coach Kris Knoblauch is even more concerning, with both expected to miss their next game against the Seattle Kraken, with Knoblauch also revealing that they'll both likely be out for the next week.
Unfortunately for Oilers fans, he didn't reveal the extent of their injuries, so this could be seen as the team giving them extra time off to heal, but if there's more to find out about their injuries, this could be a devastating blow for the organization right on the eve of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While there are plenty of important duos in the NHL, none are more important to their team success than Draisaitl and McDavid, and after dragging them to the Stanley Cup Finals a year ago, the hopes are that they could do it again in 2025.
Without the firepower around them however, if these two do miss significant time, they'll likely stand no chance of making a deep Cup run this season, so Oilers fans will be holding their breath as they await the final results on the injuries to their two biggest stars.
