Unfortunately, things have turned in the past 24 hours, as it was revealed that Leon Draisaitl would miss the Oilers matchup with the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, and in that game, captain Connor McDavid would also go down, missing the entire third period due to injury.
Now, Insider Frank Seravalli has revealed that the Oilers have sent both for scans on Friday to see if they can find out more about the severity of these injuries, with their entire fanbase glued to social media to find out answers on their top stars.
Without either McDavid or Draisaitl, the Stanley Cup hopes in Edmonton take a drastic hit, and if they miss any for a significant amount of time, it could play a major role in how their promising 2024/25 campaign comes to an end.
On Thursday, Draisaitl was considered day-to-day, meaning that there's confidence he isn't going to be out long-term, but with McDavid and eventually Stuart Skinner both leaving their latest game with injuries, there is plenty of reason to be concerned in Edmonton.
Stay tuned as we will bring the latest updates on both players when they are officially announced, and given how important these two stars are, the next update on their status moving forward not only changes things in Edmonton, but will play a crucial part in the entire Western Conference playoff picture moving forward.
