The Edmonton Oilers suffered a major blow on Wednesday with the injury announcement to Zach Hyman, and now we know the injury that cost him his season.

Despite holding a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals, things may have been turned on their head on Wednesday, as it was revealed that Zach Hyman, the Edmonton Oilers star forward will miss the remainder of the playoffs due to injury.
That's a huge blow for an Oilers team that have dominated the Dallas Stars in this series thus far, and while their lead may be too much to overcome for the Stars, it will severely hamper their chances to win the Stanley Cup.
Now, it has been revealed exactly what happened to Hyman, as he broke his wrist on this hit from Mason Marchment that took him out of the remainder of Game 4, and ultimately it's one that will reportedly require surgery.
This is a tough blow for Hyman, but on the positive side, he will be back at 100% for the beginning of the 2025/26 season for Edmonton, although this blow is an absolutely brutal one for Hyman and the Oilers, as he has been such a key piece of their team for quite some time now.
In 15 games thus far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Hyman has 5 goals, 11 points and a fantastic +10, as his combination with Connor McDavid has become just as lethal as any other combination in the NHL.
Ultimately, the Oilers still have the talent to win the Stanley Cup in 2025, and while they will face the stiff test of the Florida Panthers if they get through the Stars, optimism will still be high for their chances in that series.
