What started out as a really nice moment went south pretty fast at the 2023 NHL Draft. The Montreal Canadiens were set to make the 5th overall pick when it was announced that Carey Price, one of the best goaltenders in the Canadiens' history and the last 5th overall pick of the Habs, would be the person to let everyone know who would be coming to the stage. Unfortunately, while attempting to say David Reinbacher, he completely blanked on the last name and stood there trying to sort it out in his head. Kent Hughes, General Manager for Montreal, stepped forward and took the mic to announce the name and end the awkwardness.
Whether the pronunciation of the Austrian's last name was the issue, or he just blanked all together, isn't clear. Poor Price was left to stand there like a deer caught in the headlights.
