He may not have tried it, but he's getting the credit for the goal anyway. Strauss Mann, who's played just over 20 games in the American Hockey League, has managed to get a goal for the Laval Rocket following a brutal play by the Rochester Americans.
With a penalty called, Rochester pulls its goaltender for the extra attacker. Players stack up in Mann's crease as the Americans tried to shove one in the net before anyone on the Rocket could touch the puck. It ended up near the corner after it's poked away from Mann's pads, and then taken by Filip Cederqvist. Cederqvist attempted a quick, almost no-look centering attempt. The puck instead went all the way down the ice and into his own net. As Mann was the last Laval player to touch it, he has his first-ever professional goalie goal.
