The Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday night was highlighted by constant battling between the two teams' agitators. Corey Perry and Ryan Reaves went back and forth all night, with shoves, insults, etc. After practice today, Reaves was asked about his opinion of the man they call 'the worm.' I don't think there are any surprises here. Reaves thinks Perry is all talk.
"I never really liked him, to be honest. We always seem to run into each other when we play against each other, but not a lot of love for that guy."
Asked when his dislike for Perry began, Reaves said "the first day I met him on the ice."
"Just the way he runs his mouth, I don't know. He kind of acts tough. He's not tough."
Reaves finished by saying Perry "definitely wouldn't" drop the gloves with him, indicating the reason is because he knows what will happen.
Reaves has definitely been making an impact with the Toronto Maple Leafs, a team that has been accused of being far too soft for several season. He's doing what he gets paid to do, and doing it well. As for Perry, the "worm" nickname has definitely been earned, and his style of play hasn't changed since he entered the league.
