It's been a big season for Montreal Canadiens goaltending prospect Jacob Fowler and this weekend, he set a new NCAA record.

On Sunday, the Jacob Fowler and Boston University were playing in their Regional Final of the NCAA Division 1 Tournament against Quinnipiac, with the winner advancing to the Frozen Four. Fowler made 26 saves as Boston University won the game in overtime by a score of 5-4.

With the victory, Jacob Fowler set a new NCAA single-season record for the most wins by a freshman goaltender with 31, surpassing the previous mark of 30, which was held by former NHLer Al Montoya.

"Writing his page in the NCAA record books ✍️

Jacob Fowler earns his 31st win and sets the NCAA single-season record for most wins by a freshman goalie! 👏" Boston College said in a post on X.

Fowler also sits fourth in NCAA history for most wins in a single season, tied with another former NHLer and U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Ryan Miller.

"After winning his 31st game today, Jacob Fowler is now tied with Ryan Miller (Michigan State 2000-2001) for 4th most wins in one season in NCAA history."

The Montreal Canadiens organization and their fanbase are very excited for the future, especially with a top goaltending prospect like Jacob Fowler in the pipeline. Until Fowler is ready to play in the National Hockey League, the Canadiens are in good hands with Samuel Montembeault, Cayden Primeau and eventually Jakub Dobes.

So far this season, Fowler has appeared in 37 games for Boston College where he has a record of 31-5-1 with a 2.20 goals against average, a .924 save percentage and two shutouts.

Fowler and Boston College will now have two weeks off before facing the University of Michigan in the semi-finals of the Frozen Four. The winner of that game will take on the winner of the other semi-final, Boston University/Denver University, in the National Championship Game.
