The New Jersey Devils are going to be without the services of star forward Jack Hughes for the next little while.

On Tuesday, Devils head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters that Hughes will be out week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Jack Hughes' absence is considered a matter of weeks, not months, says #NJDevils Lindy Ruff.

The team is aware he will miss some time and Jack will be evaluated week to week to see how he progresses.

Hughes suffered the injury during a game against the Chicago Blackhawks on January 5th. Late in the third period, Hughes was bringing the puck into the Blackhawks zone and after he turns it over, he catches and edge and falls to the ice. He left the game and did not return.

The 22-year-old was having a solid season thus far, putting up 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) in 32 games for a Devils team that many expected to be better than they have been so far this season.
