The New York Rangers are fighting for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot, but now they've suffered another brutal blow, as Matt Rempe is set for a stint on the sidelines with an upper-body injury.
This season hasn't gone the way that many in New York expected it too, and after a red-hot start, the team fell apart with plenty of drama surrounding the organization, as they're now fighting for a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Currently, the team sit one point and two places back of the Montreal Canadiens for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, with the team needing to win almost every game down the stretch to keep pace with the teams ahead of them.
Unfortunately, they've now lost one of their key bottom-six forwards, as Rangers reporter Mollie Walker has now announced that Matt Rempe is out week-to-week moving forward, a tough loss for New York.
In 36 games this season, Rempe has 2 goals and 5 points while carrying a +4 differential, and it's become very clear that as a fourth liner, he can be very valuable for this team moving forward.
It's unclear at this point when he'll be back, but the Rangers desperately need to get healthy over the final few weeks of the season, especially if they are to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so for now, they'll look to win without their enforcer in the lineup in some very must-win games over the coming weeks.
