NHL Insider Confirms The Official Asking Price The New York Rangers Must Pay To Acquire Kirill Kaprizaov
Respected NHL has just confirmed the official asking price the New York Rangers must pay if they wish to acquire star forward from the Minnesota Wild and it's much more than expected.
According to Pagnotta, Kaprizov's asking just went up once again after he reportedly turned down an astonishing $128 million dollar contract ($16M AAV) that would extend over the period of eight-years.
However, it's now reported that the 28-year old for is looking for a contract worth $17+ million, now this may be a shorter contract deal, such as 3-5 years.
In my honest opinion, i believe the New York Rangers are able to make this work if the final deal ends up to be a sign-trade scenario, as the Rangers have a ton of valuable assets that they can send the other.
The New York Rangers would have to be willing to part ways with both their first and second draft picks of the 2026 NHL Draft, along with sending a few NHL ready players to the Minnesota Wild, such as
Brennan Othmann,
Braden Schneider, and their former first-overall draft pick Alexis Lafreniere.
Now, theres no saying that's what the Wild or Kaprizov are interested in doing. Its just one possible way the Rangers could make this happen.
Then on the other hand, i want to believe Chris Drury would wait an see what happens with
Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers, as it would be in the organizations best interest to see if they have a chance of acquiring McDavid rather than Kaprizov.
Who do you think the New York Rangers should focus on more, Kirill Kaprizov or Connor McDavid? Let us know in the poll down below.
