The Rangers and Canucks both face a must-win game on Saturday, and now the Rangers lineup has been changed ahead of J.T. Miller's revenge opportunity.
Unsurprisingly, it's a big game personally and in the standings, and after New York's recent struggles, Head Coach Peter Laviolette is looking to switch things up as the Rangers aim to save their season.
While the Rangers once mighty powerplay used to consist of Panarin, Zibanejad, Kreider and Fox all on PP1 to keep all their stars rolling, now, Laviolette has switched things up and split the groups up.
On the first powerplay, the team are going with Zach Jones,
Will Cuylle, Miller, Zibanejad and Johnny Brodzinski, while the likes of Kreider, Panarin, Fox and Lafreniere have been relegated to PP2 alongside
Vincent Trocheck.
This is a far cry from the loaded powerplay groups this team had as they made the Eastern Conference Finals twice in the past three seasons, and with most of those big names struggling, it's unclear what could help them get out of their rut and turn things around.
At this point, they don't have very much time, as New York sit two points back of the final Wild Card with the teams ahead of them having two games in hand, and with just 12 games left to play for the Rangers this season and given that five teams are within three points of that final spot, they'll need to be near perfect down the stretch with these new look powerplay units.
