Rempe's reputation amongst his peers may have changed because of his actions during the Rangers 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
During the second period of the game, Devils forward Jonas Siegenthaler was dumping the puck in from the neutral zone when Rempe came across the ice to deliver a huge elbow to the head of Siegenthaler.
Rempe was handed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for his high hit. Newly acquired Devils enforcer Kurtis MacDermid tried to get some retribution on Rempe, but the officials wouldn't allow it. MacDermid received a 10-minute misconduct for the trouble he caused.
When Rempe left the ice he thought he would stir the pot once more by waving bye to MacDermid.
MacDermd sounded off on the rookie Rempe's behavior after the game.
A suspension is likely incoming for Rempe who has laid three or four questionable hits in his young career.
The 29 year old, MacDermid is familiar with Department of Player Safety, after he received a two game suspension for an illegal check to the head of defenseman Ivan Provorov during the 2019-2020 season.
Rempe is going to be suspended in the near future but he should be back in time to answer for his actions when the two teams meet again on April 3rd.
