Up until tonight Matt Rempe has managed to play up to the edge, while managing to not cross it. Tonight however he finally crossed the line and he will almost definitely be suspended for his actions. Unlike his previous infraction, this one did not involve him being 6'7 and was entirely due to him breaking the rules.
In the second period of tonight's game Rempe delivered a huge elbow to the head of Jonas Siegenthaler. As Rempe crossed the ice, Siegenthaler appears to slow up and instead of missing the hit Rempe raises an elbow. The elbow connects directly with Siegenthaler's face and sends him straight to the ice.
Rempe was given a 5 minute major and game misconduct for this play. It's very likely Rempe will be receiving a call from Player Safety tomorrow for this hit.
As he left the ice Rempe felt it would be a good idea to waive bye to the Devils, which will likely not go in answered during future meetings.
