29-year-old goaltender placed on Wednesday's waiver wire
After a quiet few days on the wire, an Eastern Conference team has decided to place one of their goaltenders on waivers.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Philadelphia Flyers have placed 29-year-old goaltender Cal Petersen on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
"Placed on NHL waivers today: Cal Petersen (PHI)." Johnston said in a post on X.
Petersen, a native of Waterloo, Iowa, was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in the off-season from the Los Angeles Kings following a tough 2022-23 campaign and so they could get rid of his $5 million cap hit.
In five games for the Flyers this season, Petersen has a record of 2-2-0 along with a 3.90 goals against average and an .864 save percentage. He also has a 5-8-2 record in 15 American Hockey League games.
