The Penguins were once a Stanley Cup winning team. Ever since that, though, they've been on a downward spiral but have never committed to a full rebuild. After firing their former GM, Ron Hextall, they looked to former Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas to lead them out of this. Well, he may commit to a rebuild, as he's getting calls on this player.

Elliotte Friedman said the Vegas Golden Knights, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and more have all expressed some interest in forward Jake Guentzel.

Guentzel, 29 years old, will be a good addition to a contending team like those five. This season, he has 22 goals and 32 assists, tallying up to 52 points in 50 games. Jake is in the last year of his contract and carries a cap hit of $6 million.

Dubas traded a first round pick for 33-year-old defenseman Erik Karlsson over the off-season to hopefully give Pittsburgh one more shot at the playoffs, but that blew up in his face. Now, he's stuck with Karlsson for the next four years and he has to try to sell off the pieces he can.

However, trading Guentzel will likely give them their first back, it'll just be further down in the round. The Penguins' rebuild will be a long time once they fully start it.
