One of them just so happens to be defenseman Victor Johansson, who plays for Oskarshamn IK in the Swedish league.
He is a stay-at-home defenseman who stands at 6'1" and just so happens to be a left-handed shot. He has potential, and he just reached a new pinnacle in his career.
Victor Johansson to make a plash with Team Sweden
It has been revealed that Johansson will actually get to play with Team Sweden at the World Juniors this year, which is a major achievement.
If you can make it to the World Juniors for a country like Sweden, it just goes to show that you are one of the best young players in the world.
At 19 years old, Johansson is still a bit of a project. There is no telling if and when he will make his way over to North America to play with the Toronto Marlies.
A fourth-round pick is never a sure thing. With that in mind, the Maple Leafs are going to have to be patient with this kind of player.
While they would love for him to develop into a puck-mover, it just doesn't feel like that is in the cards, given his statistics in Sweden.
Whatever the case may be, we will be paying attention to the defenseman at the World Juniors this season.
