If you've followed the Toronto Maple Leafs for any length of time you've recognized that the team has struggled to find a Left Winger to play alongside Auston Matthews. Kyle Dubas took a stab in the dark before then 2021-2022 season and signed Michael Bunting who at the time showed promise but, in many people's, eyes didn't have the numbers that warranted a contract.
Whether Bunting is a difficult player to coach overall, or the idea that him being from Scarborough and coming home to play has been the catalyst behind his lack of effort is unknown, but quite often during the duration of the season Bunting has seemed uninterested and totally unengaged with the task at hand and obviously his actions during game one of Toronto's series against the Tampa Bay Lightning were the last straw. It also should be noted that his attitude towards head coach Sheldon Keefe while on the bench at times is a bad look no matter how you look at it.
Truth of the matter is that at the end of the season, there will be changes with the hockey club and whether Bunting, Dubas or Keefe will be back is anyone's guess. It may be time for all three to have a change of scenery.
