For the second time in as many days, a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization has decided to leave and pursue options overseas.

According to Russian media outlet VK.com, Maple Leafs prospect Semyon Der-Arguchintsev is close to signing with Kontinental Hockey League club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.

Der-Arguchintsev, 22, was selected by the Maple Leafs in the third round (76th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft out of the Ontario Hockey League, where he suited up for the Peterborough Petes.

The Moscow native is coming off the best season of his professional career thus far. In 50 games with the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies, Der-Arguchintsev recorded 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-two.

The 2022-23 campaign marked the final year of Der-Arguchintsev's entry-level contract and he is set to become a restricted free agent this summer with a qualifying offer of $787,500 according to CapFriendly.
