Toronto Maple Leafs fans can breathe a little easier on Monday. After six months of being eligible to sign an extension, William Nylander put pen-to-paper on an eight-year deal worth a total of $92 million.
It was unclear what the average annual value of Nylander's contract would have looked like if he didn't wait to sign, but his patience certainly paid off in the long run. Nylander currently leads the Maple Leafs in points with 54 and given his importance to the roster, there was no way that Brad Treliving could let him walk at the end of the 2023-24 season.
