Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews has been dealing with an injury over the past few weeks, but tonight, the Leafs play the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Auston Matthews has left Toronto Maple Leafs fans wondering what's next as the captain has been dealing with an injury over the past two weeks.
He has missed five games as a result of this injury, and there have been all sorts of fears that he would have to shut his season down and help the team tank.
However, the forward has been practicing over the course of the past week, and it has felt like an inevitability that he would return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

When is Auston Matthews coming back?

On Wednesday morning, Matthews confirmed at morning skate that he will, in fact, be playing tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Maple Leafs have lost seven of their last eight games, and they desperately need something good to happen. Matthews' return is certainly a good thing.
On top of all of this good news, it was made clear that Nicolas Roy would be coming back into the lineup, which gives the bottom six some stability.

Maple Leafs injuries begin to clear up

With Matthews, Knies, and Roy returning, there are only three injuries left plaguing the Leafs. Of course, we are talking about Chris Tanev, Anthony Stolarz, and Brandon Carlo.
It feels as though all three are still going to be out for a while. Carlo just started skating, while Stolarz has remained sidelined.
As for Tanev, he is working through a second concussion, and that is never something you want to rush yourself back from.
