Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe suffered a scary injury on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens, and he is having a sense of humor about it.

During the Maple Leafs' horrible loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, defenseman Jake McCabe took a puck to the face, knocking him out of the game.
In the aftermath of the incident, there were all sorts of fears that he would not be able to come back to the lineup for a while. After all, these injuries can lead to concussions or broken jaws.
However, earlier in the week, it was revealed that McCabe would, in fact, get to return to the lineup. The Leafs play the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, and they are certainly excited to have their defenseman back.

Jake McCabe describes his injury

Meanwhile, after practice on Tuesday, McCabe had an opportunity to speak with the media and describe what exactly went down after taking a puck to the face.
As he told TSN's Mark Masters, his face began to swell up, which led to concerns that he may have broken some bones in his face. Luckily, this was not the case.
My face just blew up right away so they wanted to make sure there was no fracture, which there's not. So, yeah, got lucky on that one.
The defenseman subsequently noted that his daughter was making fun of him after the incident. Clearly, he is being a good sport about things.
I wish my face looked a little prettier every now & then. It's a tough sport, but I embrace that part of it & oftentimes it makes you play better ... My daughter asked me if after this road trip my face will look normal. I said, 'I hope so.' Knock on wood

McCabe has been solid for the Maple Leafs this season, as he has three goals and 10 points through the first 22 games. He also has a plus/minus of +3.
Against the Blue Jackets tonight, the team will be looking for McCabe to have a big game that helps this team snap out of its losing ways.
