The Toronto Maple Leafs have an expensive payroll, and there are plenty of players who simply aren't pulling their weight ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline.
Going into the NHL Trade Deadline, general manager Brad Treliving has made it absolutely clear that he would like to add players, not subtract.
However, that does not mean everyone on the roster right now has to stick around. There is always an opportunity for the Leafs to get rid of guys to make way for salaries.
There are some players on the Leafs who are making a lot of money, and whose production hasn't been what the team was expecting.
As it turns out, some of these guys are on general manager Brad Treliving's radar right now, and a deal could come about in due time.
Max Domi, Brandon Carlo, and Matias Maccelli under the microscope
This information comes straight from reporter David Pagnotta, who recently explained that guys like Max Domi, Brandon Carlo, and Matias Maccelli are all under consideration for trades.
These are players who make between $3.4 million and $4 million per season, and simply aren't what the Leafs have needed.
It's money in, money out, which is why they're willing to exploring moving Max Domi and Brandon Carlo; and Mattias Maccelli; they need to move out money
Max Domi and Matias Maccelli were solid against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, but that is very much besides the point.
Only time will tell whether or not the Leafs actually do make a trade soon, or if they are simply all talk right about now.
If you are a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, you can't help but hope that the team does, in fact, make some very big moves here in the near future.
