Las Vegas Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner was asked what he wants for Christmas, and he couldn't help himself when it comes to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mitch Marner is starting to come into his own as one of the stars on the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
On Tuesday, he had two goals against the San Jose Sharks. He now has 38 points in 35 games, nine of which are goals. Despite a slow start, he appears to be improving and coming into his own.
The Golden Knights look like a team that could compete for a Stanley Cup. As Leafs fans already know, Marner's playoff record isn't exactly pristine, but now, he gets to prove himself with a known winner.
In fact, after last night's win against the San Jose Sharks, Mitch Marner was asked about what he wants for Christmas. His answer was a bit of a dig at the Leafs.
Mitch Marner gets a shot in on the Toronto Maple Leafs
Marner noted that he wants a long postseason run for Christmas. While this is still five to six months away, it is very clearly on his mind right now.
However, you can't help but feel as though he is making fun of the Maple Leafs, who never made it past the second round during his tenure.
If you are a Maple Leafs fan, you are probably cursing at your screen right now, commenting on how Marner's play is why the Leafs never made it that far.
After all, the forward certainly didn't help in Game 7 against the Florida Panthers last season, but that is neither here nor there.
Having said that, there is lots of anticipation around Marner this season, and whether or not he can prove that he is a playoff performer.
It is not going to be easy for the forward, but he certainly has a good organization behind him.
