Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube addressed the media today, and it was here that he offered a very sobering update on goalie Anthony Stolarz.
Anthony Stolarz has had his fair share of struggles this season. He got worked into the ground with Joseph Woll out of the lineup, and it led to some lackluster statistics.
A goals-against average of 3.51 and a save percentage of .884 have plagued the netminder. Although now, the major concern surrounding Stolarz is his health.
He has been out of the lineup for over a week, and this has forced Joseph Woll to play four straight games. In fact, Woll is being worked into the ground just like Stolarz was, and there are concerns about what will happen next.
The Maple Leafs want to have their goaltending tandem back. In the eyes of management, this could potentially turn the season around.
When is Anthony Stolarz coming back?
Unfortunately, you shouldn't expect Stolarz back anytime soon. According to Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube, the netminder is "a ways away."
This does not sound like a positive update. He still isn't skating with the team, and we still do not know the exact nature of the injury.
The goalie has not been on the ice since November 11th, which means it's been almost two weeks since he has gotten any action. As a fan, you have to be concerned.
Toronto Maple Leafs injuries continue to get worse
In addition to Anthony Stolarz, Auston Matthews, Matthew Knies, Chris Tanev, Nicolas Roy, and Brandon Carlo are all out of the lineup.
With the Leafs taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday night, it is up in the air whether or not any of these players will be in the lineup.
This is a horrible situation for the Maple Leafs to be in, and there are a lot of fans out there who feel as though more losses are coming, especially with some of the Eastern Conference's best teams on the horizon.
