Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media on Thursday night following a game in which goaltender Joseph Woll got injured.
The Toronto Maple Leafs crushed the Carolina Hurricanes tonight by a score of 5-1 as forward Bobby McMann had two goals.
It was yet another solid performance from the Maple Leafs, who are currently on a three-game winning streak and are close to a playoff spot.
Unfortunately, it came at a cost as goaltender Joseph Woll went down with a lower-body injury during the second period and was unable to return for the third.
Dennis Hildeby came in to relieve Woll and pitched a shutout in the third period to guarantee the Leafs the win. It was a spirited performance, and you have to give Hildeby his props.
Craig Berube delivers a Joseph Woll injury update
In the aftermath of Woll's injury, fans have been curious about the extent of his issue, and whether or not this is something that will last a long time.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke to the media after the game, and in true Berube fashion, he was unable to offer up much in terms of an explanation. The severity of the injury is unknown, and that is all we know.
Woll's injury is not what you want to see, especially when Anthony Stolarz has been sidelined, and he hasn't skated in over three weeks.
The Maple Leafs are on a roll, and they cannot afford to lose their goaltender for an extended period of time. Hildeby has been good, but he can't be the starter.
Hopefully, Joseph Woll can come back soon and continue to deliver exceptional performances. Prior to his injury, he had stopped 22 out of 23 shots and was keeping the team in the lead.
He has been the MVP of the season since returning from his leave of absence, and has been a true source of joy for the fanbase.
