Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is going to be traded soon, and there were previous reports that the Leafs were interested in doing something.
Rasmus Andersson has been one of the most talked-about players on the trade market since the summer, and Maple Leafs fans have been paying attention.
The Leafs have been one of the teams in the mix, although there have been reports that the price has been too high for general manager Brad Treliving.
As a result, other teams have entered the Andersson sweepstakes. With the Olympics on the horizon, the Flames have showcased some urgency to get a deal done.
Overall, it has been an interesting week, and now, reporting from Darren Dreger suggests a trade might get done this weekend.
Rasmus Andersson could be on the move soon
Are the Maple Leafs one of the four finalists for Andersson? It doesn't look like it. Instead, the Boston Bruins and the Las Vegas Golden Knights are the most likely options.
Things can develop quickly. However, sources say 4 teams remain in the mix for Flames Dman, Rasmus Andersson. Two teams in the east and two in the west. Boston and Vegas are strong contenders. Unless there's progress, there's a decent chance Andersson plays today for Cgy
The Maple Leafs are still searching for a right-handed puck-moving defenseman, although Andersson probably won't be the guy.
Instead, it seems like the most obvious player for the Leafs right now is actually Dougie Hamilton of the New Jersey Devils.
Hamilton is someone the Leafs have been looking at for a while, and he appears to be on the move very soon.
If the Leafs can get someone to bolster their blue line, there will be plenty of happy Toronto Maple Leafs fans out there.
