Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly was asked about Mitch Marner after last night's game, and he really did not have much to say.
Last night, Morgan Rielly had a rough night against the Las Vegas Golden Knights, especially since he was responsible for the Knights' game-winning goal.
Of course, this was a big game for the Maple Leafs, who were going up against Mitch Marner for the first time since the infamous trade.
There was a lot of baggage going into this game, and the fans were hoping for the Maple Leafs to have a big performance that could solidify their playoff hopes.
In the end, the Leafs blew a sizeable lead, and the game turned out to be a wash. It was a poor showing, and defenseman Morgan Rielly had himself a stinker.
Morgan Rielly on Mitch Marner
The media was obsessed with the Marner narrative, so it should come as no surprise that Rielly was asked about his former teammate after the game.
This led to an extremely honest and candid answer, in which Rielly made it crystal clear that Marner isn't someone he really thinks about all that often.
It was normal. Nothing.
At the end of the day, Rielly and the Maple Leafs are going to need to be better if this team has any chance of making it to the postseason.
If they think that the Mitch Marner circus is getting out of hand now, they should just wait and see what happens in a few days from now.
Marner is coming back to Toronto next Friday, and there is no denying that there is going to be lots of fanfare around this.
